We've been aware for awhile that diversity in tech is a critical issue. According to recent surveys<\/a>, women only make up 24% of the workforce in the tech industry. Even at the top tech companies, like Google, Facebook, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft, women only 22% of tech jobs are held by women<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Even though we've known about the gender gap in tech for years, and initiatives and programs have been created to help encourage more women to go into the tech field, the problem still persists today; women in tech are still<\/strong> underrepresented.<\/p>\n

This inevitably leads us to the question of why?<\/strong> Why is there still a gender gap and how often is gender discrimination and bias still occurring for women in the tech industry?<\/p>\n
