With other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/who-are-the-competitors-of-chatgpt\">AI models<\/a> succeeding, Apple will need to up its game.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"can_siri_compete_with_chatgpt\">Can Siri Compete With ChatGPT?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While Siri can be traced back to February 2010, Apple&#8217;s slow approach to embracing LLMs has led to competitors like OpenAI and Google stealing its thunder.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of raw capabilities, Siri is outclassed compared to ChatGPT or Gemini in areas including content creation, image generation, and coding.<\/p>\n<p>OpenAI has built ChatGPT into a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/definition\/multimodal-ai-multimodal-artificial-intelligence\">multimodal AI<\/a> juggernaut, which users can interact with via text or voice, and it can then handle everything from question and answers, to text summarization, to image generation with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/dall-e-3-and-chatgpt\">DALL-E 3<\/a>, to translation.<\/p>\n<p>Siri&#8217;s approach is slightly different. The tool acts as a virtual assistant for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, but in its current form, Siri is better placed to address brief queries with simple answers rather than complex outputs like ChatGPT.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, Siri&#8217;s connection to the Apple ecosystem makes it a force to be reckoned with, as it is accessible to users across <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/definition\/25206\/ios\">iOS<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/news\/apples-ipados-compliance-to-be-assessed-by-european-commission\">iPadOS<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/definition\/2639\/macintosh-operating-system-mac-os\">MacOS<\/a>, and on devices including the iPhone, iPad, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/personal-tech\/apple-macbook-pro-m4-review\">MacBook Pro<\/a>, MacBook Air, and Apple Watch.<\/p>\n<p>The iPhone alone has the largest smartphone <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oberlo.com\/statistics\/us-smartphone-market-share\" target=\"_blank\">market share in the US at 57%<\/a>, so if Apple can launch successfully, it will easily provide a much more accessible alternative to ChatGPT.<\/p>\n<p>So Apple will be able to instantly capture a market base without the challenges that ChatGPT or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/google-gemini-2-is-a-game-changer\">Gemini<\/a> face, as long as the product is good.<\/p>\n<p>Apple&#8217;s main issue is that it has to complete a lot of development in a very short space of time. The AI race has been full-speed ahead since the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, and Apple has been very slow to commit to using LLMs in its product ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>Although, as Apple CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/tim-cook-net-worth\">Tim Cook<\/a> puts it: &#8220;Be best, not first&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Even Elon Musk, who has performed exceptionally well in developing and promoting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/definition\/grok\">Grok<\/a> assistant, hasn&#8217;t achieved a large market.
