Samsung has confirmed that the “next Galaxy Watch line-up” (aka the Galaxy Watch 7) will add AI features that improve health tracking.

As hinted in past rumors, One UI 6 Watch will provide more comprehensive, AI-driven monitoring that provides better insights. You’ll now get an Energy Score that combines sleep data, the previous day’s activity, and your heart rate variance to illustrate your condition. Wellness Tips give advice depending on your goals, such as improving your sleep habits or lowering your resting heart rate.

AI will also help the Galaxy Watch deliver more accurate data, Samsung said. An upgraded sleep algorithm and extra metrics (such as movement, heart rate, and respiratory rate) will shed more light on the quality of your rest. When you’re working out, aerobic and anaerobic threshold heart rate zones will offer fast performance analysis. If you’re a cyclist, you’ll get a customized power index using AI to determine your functional threshold power in about 10 minutes.

Other additions are less dependent on AI. A Workout Routine feature will let you combine multiple exercise types so that you can quickly switch activities without pausing. When running or biking outdoors, Race will compare your performance on a given route.

Samsung will include One UI 6 Watch on the new smartwatch line when it ships. The company promised that a “limited number” of Galaxy Watch 4, 5, and 6 owners will get to try the beta software starting in June.

The Galaxy Watch 7 is unofficially expected to be a modest upgrade on the outside except for a new, more rugged Ultra variant meant to compete with the Apple Watch Ultra. On the inside, it’s believed to get a faster and more efficient Exynos chip, more storage, and a larger battery.

On top of the AI features, Samsung is likely to base the new wearable on Google’s Wear OS 5. While not a major upgrade, it should be more efficient during workouts and support additional data types.

Samsung is widely expected to introduce the Galaxy Watch 7 range at an Unpacked event in the summer that will likely also include new foldable phones.

Samsung has confirmed that the “next Galaxy Watch line-up” (aka the Galaxy Watch 7) will add AI features that improve health tracking.
