The Commodore 64 was a flagship personal computer product of
\nthe Commodore company, released in 1982. It was largely recognized as the
\nhighest-selling personal computer model of all time, with between 10 and 17 millions
\nof units sold (according to available estimates). However, Commodore 64 and
\ncomputers like it were quickly replaced by more advanced models in following years.<\/p>\n
Commodore 64 was an 8-bit home computer with 64 kB of RAM. It ran on a Commodore BASIC operating system and had a VIC-II graphics card, an external 170 K floppy drive, ports for two joysticks, and a cartridge port.<\/p>\n
At its time, the Commodore 64 stood out from its competitors in both sound and graphics, with multi-colored sprites and three-channel sound that provided what was, for that era, state-of-the-art technology. The ability to play Commodore games on the system was only part of the appeal, with a variety of business uses also built into the early computing system.
