The SU7, aimed at the premium segment, is Xiaomi’s ambitious entry into the EV world. The company has teased the car’s high-end features but kept price and specific delivery dates under wraps for now.
Xiaomi’s President Weibing Lu hinted at a second-quarter delivery start in China. However, international sales might follow only in a few years.
Xiaomi and competitors
Designed to rival Tesla and Porsche, the SU7 boasts impressive specs. Those include a 500-mile range on a single charge and a top speed that outpaces its luxury competitors. With three electric motor options, the most powerful being the V6s with 664 horsepower, Xiaomi is positioning its EV as a leader in performance and technology.
The car’s battery technology offers a full charge in just 15 minutes.? The feature is possible thanks to its 101-kilowatt-hour CATL cell that supports 800-volt fast charging.
Production is slated for a Beijing factory with a capacity of 200,000 vehicles annually. This underlines Xiaomi’s serious commitment to the EV market.
The SU7 will come in three colors and promises seamless integration with Xiaomi smartphones, enhancing the user experience. The company also plans to equip the SU7 with advanced autonomous driving capabilities, aiming to surpass Tesla in this critical area.
As Xiaomi prepares to make its mark in the EV industry, the launch of the SU7 is closely watched by competitors and consumers alike, potentially setting a new standard in the electric vehicle space.
Meanwhile, Apple has recently scrapped its plans for an electric vehicle. As users on X noticed, it took Apple 10 years to abandon electric car plans, while Xiaomi made it in just three years.
