WhatsApp is rolling out a ‘context card’ to inform users of key information relating to the group chat they have been added to, helping them leave scam groups.
The ubiquitous chat app owned by Meta has many interesting features but there is a simplicity to it. You can have individual chats with friends, family, colleagues, or other known persons and participate in group chats for various purposes.?
Largely, we will know the other person or group participants who are conversing, or at least if someone adds you, they will introduce themselves. Now, WhatsApp is introducing the ‘context card’ with important details such as who created the group, when it was started, a description of the group, and whether or not someone in their contact list made it.?

Often, spam attempts are obvious and it’s visibly clear that the communication isn’t genuine but that isn’t always the case. Following a press release from the messenger company, WhatsApp is going one step further to install a barrier against potential scammers, including a button to instantly leave the group chat. The new feature will resemble an individual chat log when an unknown number initiates contact with you on the app. It should also improve the user experience by letting you quickly remove nuisance and leave groups created for nefarious purposes.
WhatsApp is said to be rolling out the new feature across the world immediately, with all users getting access over the next few weeks.
