The Nothing Phone 3 is confirmed to be in development, but Nothing Phone fans will have to wait a little bit longer for the phone’s arrival.
It will naturally come out of the box with Nothing OS 3.0 — with the Android-flavored OS also coming to older phones across late 2024.
What’s next? We have some ideas. So here is everything we know so far about Nothing Phone 3’s expected release date, features, specs, design, and price.
What is the Nothing Phone 3?
The Nothing Phone 3 is the highly-anticipated third model in UK-based Nothing Technology’s smartphone lineup.
Known for its unique designs, which aim for style and high specs, but without the price tag of bigger brands, the Nothing Phone series stands out from the crowd with its transparent backs and LED lights.
The Nothing Phone 1 came with plenty of goodwill, with a unique design featuring a transparent back and LED lights and a competitive price against the big phone brands like Samsung and iPhone.
While Nothing Phone 2 addressed some bugs and imperfections found in Nothing’s first flagship, the Nothing Phone 3 could be equipped with more artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities than the last two models.
When is the Nothing Phone 3 Coming Out?
The Nothing Phone 3 is expected to arrive in 2025, following an X/Twitter post from Nothing Technology Limited CEO Carl Pei.
Pei stated in a lengthy post that “it’s important we get the product right, integrating hardware and AI in a way that is both useful and brings a smile to people’s faces — expect this to be improved and gradually introduced, starting with Phone (3) next year.”
There's been a lot of hype around AI. Some great, some confusing. It’s great to see new companies rethinking the user experience and form factors. However, there is no doubt that smartphones will remain the main consumer AI form factor for the foreseeable future. With over 4… pic.twitter.com/ERJc7xhwBa

So there you have it. While we had some hope for a sneaky 2024 release, the company has already introduced a low-budget Nothing Phone (2a) and Nothing Ear (a) earbuds this year, so shifting the Nothing Phone 3 release date is understandable, considering the rumored new hardware and AI features the phone is expected to come with.
The Nothing Phone 1 and 2 shipped on July 21, 2022, and 2023, respectively.
If we follow previous Nothing Phone release timeframes, the Nothing Phone 3 release date should be sometime in mid-July 2025.
Nothing Phone 3 Rumored Specs and Features
Speculation suggests that the Nothing Phone 3 will likely feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor.
While the chip isn’t on par with those found in flagship Samsung smartphones, the lower-cost Snapdragon Gen 3 chip version can bring generative AI, photographic, and high-end gaming capabilities to the Nothing Phone 3.
The chip will also boost the speed of the Nothing Phone 3 with 3GHz, backed up by three 2.8GHz performance cores and four 2GHz efficiency cores.
The above reveal from Carl Pei showed that the company is working on deeply integrating AI into Nothing’s operating system, with features that can give users “highly personalized companions” anticipated to roll out in the Nothing Phone 3.
Meanwhile leaker TechNerd expects a 6.5″ screen and also a Pro model, although we note these are “expectations”, not leaks.

We saw a battery capacity boost in Nothing Phone 2, with its 4,700 mAh, compared to the 4,500 mAh the Nothing Phone 1 debuted with. The upcoming flagship will likely see further gains by offering faster charging and a bigger battery capacity. We expect 4,900 mAh — 5,000 mAh.
We have little to go on with the Nothing Phone 3 camera. The new flagship will most likely continue the dual-camera designs of the Phone 1 and Phone 2.
However, some rumors suggest the Nothing Phone 3 might get Sony’s latest LYTIA sensors, which could lead to improved image quality, particularly in low-light conditions.
Will Nothing Phone 3 Have a New Design?
We expect the design of Nothing Phone 3 to remain largely the same. However, we might see some improvements in the Glyph lighting interface.
Currently, it serves as a (beautiful) backplate lighting setup that alerts you to notifications and volume levels and doubles up as a torch. But we expect the team to have ideas on where to take it next.
We already saw Nothing add customizable notifications, six more LED panels, and a composer for arranging ringtones in Nothing Phone 2, so there is a possibility of new designs and features in the upcoming flagship.
Looking closely at images posted by Carl Pei on X in May 2024, where he sought opinions on Nothing’s operating system user interface updates, we can see an extra external button on the right side, which speculators suggest could be an “Action Button,” mimicking the Action Button we have on the iPhone 16.

What is the Nothing Phone 3 Launch Price?
We expect the Nothing Phone 3 to launch at around $600 to $700, based on the previous models.
The Nothing Phone 2 price started at $599.99 in the United States, while the Nothing Phone 1 (not released in the U.S.) immediately started at £400 (approximately $500) in the United Kingdom.
We expect the Nothing Phone 3 price to match the Nothing Phone 2, and possibly higher if the specs get a substantial bump.
Nothing Phone 2 vs. Nothing Phone 3
While information on Nothing Phone 3 is still evolving, here is how we expect it to compare to its predecessor.
Specs | Nothing Phone 2 | Nothing Phone 3 (Expected) |
---|---|---|
Processor | Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 | Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 |
Battery capacity | 4,700-mAh | Might get 4,900-mAh to 5,000-mAh |
Advanced features | Have lesser AI capabilities | Rumored to get Advanced Integrated AI features |
Camera sensor | Sony IMX890 | Rumored to get Sony’s latest LYTIA sensors |
Android version | Android 13 | Might get Android 14 |
Starting price | Starts at $599.99 | Likely $599 – $699 |
The Bottom Line
The Nothing Phone 2 was launched with significant improvements over the first model. Now, hopes are high for what new offerings the next flagship will offer.
The highlight of these rumors is that Nothing Phone 3 will heavily feature generative AI in its functions, though details of how this will play out are still scarce.
We might also see a larger battery, improved Glyph interface, better camera, an Action Button, and a newer processor, which will boost the Nothing Phone 3 speed and performance.
While the hopes of this July launch may have been dashed, we anticipate the extended time will give more room for a major launch in 2025.
