The trailer shows off a Japanese-inspired landscape with cities, trains, and the Sakura Garden point of interest (POI). You also get a peek at upcoming themed bosses and weapons, like katanas.
There’s a cute, jelly-like creature that could be a pet, and a roaming Godzilla boss that makes an appearance towards the end of the trailer. Leaks have suggested King Kong may appear in future.
The trailer also shows players running and rolling across rooftops, showcasing a new barrel roll move and boosted jump, alongside a brand-new teleportation mechanic powered by an in-game item.
Oni masks, Japanese symbols of strength that bring the wearer good luck, have already shown up in several skins in Fortnite, but now they’ll reportedly be usable items in Battle Royale. Leaks have suggested each mask will have its own unique abilities relating to different in-game elements.
Bear in mind that this Fortnite Chapter 6 trailer hasn’t been officially released by Epic Games yet, so, as always, we’d suggest taking everything you see with a pinch of salt ahead of Saturday’s Hunters release.
December is a big month for Fortnite. Next week sees the return of the original map in OG mode, giving players a dose of nostalgia in time for the holidays.
