El resultado eran gr\u00e1ficos con bloques y tiempos de c\u00e1lculo lentos.<\/p>\n<p>Por eso, en la actualidad, <strong>cuando se habla de 8 bits, generalmente se asocia a ordenadores lento<\/strong>s, gr\u00e1ficos de baja <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/es\/definicion\/resolucion\">resoluci\u00f3n<\/a> y sonido simplista.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"definicion_de_8_bits\">Definici\u00f3n de 8 bits<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Ocho bits era la capacidad m\u00e1xima de tama\u00f1o de palabra de muchos ordenadores<\/strong> que se utilizaron ampliamente a principios de los a\u00f1os 70 hasta finales de los 80.<\/p>\n<p>Se trataba de una limitaci\u00f3n de hardware de la tecnolog\u00eda de arquitectura de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/es\/definicion\/microprocesador\">microprocesadores<\/a> y era el principal cuello de botella del software creado para esos sistemas inform\u00e1ticos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>El <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/es\/definicion\/procesador\">procesador<\/a> y sus registros s\u00f3lo pod\u00edan contener y procesar 8 bits de datos a la vez<\/strong>, por lo que cada proceso de c\u00e1lculo implicaba muchos m\u00e1s ciclos de obtenci\u00f3n y ejecuci\u00f3n en comparaci\u00f3n con los ordenadores con tama\u00f1os de palabra de 16 bits o superiores; muy lejos de las actuales arquitecturas de procesador de 32 y 64 bits.<\/p>\n<p>En la misma l\u00ednea, los procesadores gr\u00e1ficos de 8 bits ten\u00edan un m\u00e1ximo de 8 bits, por lo que s\u00f3lo pod\u00edan mostrar un m\u00e1ximo de 256 colores.<\/p>\n<p>La arquitectura de 8 bits es especialmente popular entre los jugadores, ya que<strong> las primeras videoconsola<\/strong>s realmente cl\u00e1sicas, que allanaron el camino a la industria del videojuego, <strong>empezaron en 8 bits. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La Atari 2600 y la Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techopedia.com\/es\/definicion\/consola\">consolas<\/a> de juegos muy apreciadas, se consideran iconos de la era de los juegos de 8 bits.
