What Does Page View Mean?
A page view (PV) is a Web analytics term that refers to each time a Web page is successfully loaded onto a user’s Web browser. Every time a Web page is viewed in a browser, the site’s analytical software will increase the total page view count by one.
Page views are also referred to as page impressions.
Techopedia Explains Page View
Although the two are often confused, a page view is recorded differently than a hit. A hit is simply a request to the Web server for a file, whereas a page view is only counted when the tracking code or script in the page is fully loaded. This means that there may be several hits as a page is loading, but only one overall page view. Page views are important for sites that sell advertising based on the site’s total page views.
