Dr. Assad Abbas received his PhD from North Dakota State University (NDSU), USA. He is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Islamabad Campus, Pakistan. Abbas has been associated with COMSATS since 2004. His research interests are primarily but not limited to smart healthcare, big data analytics, recommender systems, patent analysis, and social network analysis. His research has been published in several prestigious journals including IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, IEEE IT Professional, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, Pervasive and Mobile Computing, and Future Generation Computing Systems.
Abbas has authored two books titled "Handbook of Large-Scale Distributed Computing in Smart Healthcare" and "Fog Computing: Theory and Practice". He has also served as a reviewer for several reputed journals and as a member of the technical program committee of several conferences. He is also a member of IEEE and IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE-HKN). Additionally, Dr. Abbas served as a member of the National Cloud Policy Advisory Board established by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MoIT) to formulate Pakistan’s first cloud policy.
