Now, you don’t need a brand-new smartphone or a foldable to get Samsung’s latest Galaxy AI features, as they’re coming to some high-end older devices.
Samsung announced the expansion of One UI 6.1.1 today, bringing the latest Galaxy AI features to a whole host of devices via a new update.
The AI features previously found only on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are coming to the S24 series, S23 series, and S23 FE. Moreover, they will appear in the previous generation of Galaxy foldables, the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, alongside the Tab S9 series.
Galaxy owners can expect many new AI features to elevate their mobile experience.
Tools For Enhanced Communication
Tools such as Interpreter already make communication easy, and now Listening Mode will be available on all expanded devices alongside one-way translation.
Chat Assist will help users draft emails to social media posts with Composer. Type in a few keywords, and Galaxy AI will create the message using your individual tone or style.
Suggested Replies, a feature only found on the Z Flip 6 until now, is landing on S24 series devices. It allows users to send quick replies from their wrist when their phone is connected to the Galaxy Watch Ultra or Galaxy Watch 7.
Productivity-Focused Features
There are also plenty of features for enhanced productivity, like Note Assist, which helps with translation and note summaries at meetings, plus a new transcript feature to create notes from voice recordings.
PDF Overlay Translation translates and overlays text in PDF files, including text in graphs and images.
Circle to Search uses its advanced capabilities for quicker search results and provides step-by-step instructions for complex math problems. The new Sound Search will also be rolling out across regions and models to help users identify songs they hear.
Finally, Sketch to Image lets you enhance your photos by generating image options to complement the original image based on sketches.
Creativity Features for Professional Content
Plenty of tools are coming for content creators, such as Portrait Studio, which lets you create instant portraits in a wide range of styles, and instant Slow-Mo, which slows down videos without sacrificing image quality.
The update’s rollout starts on September 5th in Korea for the Galaxy S24 series. S24 series devices in North America and Europe will receive the update on September 9th. For other Galaxy devices listed, it will arrive “in the coming weeks.”
